Securing the Education Transformation Agenda in Africa’s Regional and Sub-Regional Policy Spaces through Vibrant Civil Society Engagement in Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the Africa Union’s Continental Education Strategy for Africa

 

OBJECTIVES

 

  1. To consolidate in-country project gains and regional-level progress made in the implementation of the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA: 2016-2025) targets for improved access to inclusive and equitable access to education.

 

  1. To consolidate in-country project gains and regional-level progress made in the implementation of SDG 4 targets for improved access to inclusive and equitable education.

 

Duration: October 2023–September 2024

 

SCOPE OF WORK

Under this project, GNECC will undertake several key activities, as follows:

 

  1. Country-Level Training and Mentorship Session:

  2. Organize a planning meeting.

  3. Develop the content of the training around inclusion and equitable access to education.

  4. Conduct training and mentorship sessions for GNECC and its member organizations.

  5. Build capacity in areas relevant to the project's objectives, including policy.

  6. advocacy, education rights, and monitoring and evaluation.

 

  1. Quarterly National Education Coalition Coordination Meetings:

  2. Organize and facilitate quarterly meetings of the National Education Coalition.

  3. Ensure effective coordination, communication, and collaboration among coalitions.

 

 

  1. Policy Round Table Discussions/Position Paper Development:

  2. Hire a consultant to lead the development of a common position paper resulting from the policy round table meeting on inclusive and equitable access to quality education.

  3. Organize policy roundtable discussions on inclusive and equitable access to quality education.

  4. Develop a common position paper resulting from the policy roundtable meeting.

 

  1. Validation Workshop and Position Paper Printing:

  2. Conduct a validation workshop for the policy roundtable discussion outcomes.

  3. Based on validation feedback, finalize and print the position paper for wider

 

 

  1. ACRWC Shadow Reporton then Right to Education:

  2. Hire a consultant to assist the National Education Coalition in making consolidated inputs into the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC) shadow reports. Ensure alignment with ACRWC provisions related to the right to education.

 

  1. Validation Meeting and Shadow Report Printing (ACRWC):

  2. Hold a validation meeting to review and refine the ACRWC shadow report.

  3. Finalize and print the shadow report for submission and advocacy.

 

  1. UNCRC Shadow Reporton then Right to Education:

  2. Hire a consultant to assist the National Education Coalition in making consolidated inputs into the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) shadow reports.

  3. Ensure alignment with UNCRC provisions related to the right to education.

 

  1. Validation Meeting and Shadow Report Printing (UNCRC):

  2. Hold a validation meeting to review and refine the UNCRC shadow report.

  3. Finalize and print the shadow report for submission and advocacy.

 

 

  1. Stakeholder Validation Meeting on the Regional Analysis Framework:

  2. Organize a stakeholder validation meeting to discuss the Regional Analysis Framework and gather input.

  3. Ensure that the framework aligns with regional education goals and priorities.

 

  1. Position Paper on then Regional Analysis Framework:

  2. Design and print a position paper based on the outcomes of the stakeholder validation meeting.

  3. Disseminate the paper to relevant stakeholders.
